Re: ZS-UDT fuel pump ,carburettor & compufire
Thank you Stuart for the identification etc. I am contemplating an aftermarket VW mech pump also without primer. I note your comments on the Zenith and have a Stromberg 150 and diy manifold without heater ready but am reluctant to proceed just yet as so much extra work is involved. Have the followin...

ZS-UDT fuel pump ,carburettor & compufire
Hi all UDT is alive and well. Due to a fall from a ladder I made relatively little progress in last 6 months BUT am happy to report that the original Zenith carb (minus choke spindle & butterfly) allows my 1835to static run up to 3000 no problem! Wise reflection however promps me to backtrack a ...

Re: carburettors
My thanks to you both. I suppose the question really is whether the original Zenith is adequate for the 1834 ? I am having my suspicions about it. If either of you have found it wanting then I shall go the Stromberg route, with all its own questions about jet& needle size and the nature of the ad...

Has anyone experience of fitting a CD150 Stromberg to an 1834 VW as a replacement for the original Zenith type32 KL P10 or of rejetting the original to recognise the increase in capacity ? Jantar

Re: Undersized bolts?
Hi I had same situation when I tried to replace these bolts with new. There was only slight polishing on the originals and definitely no wear so I reused them. It has occured to me later that these could be "high tolerance"grade bolts. I have no slop in the aileron circuit. Jantar

Re: GATVC; seat & harness, wheels & brakes, & instrument panel
Hi Jim I have just been thro all this with ZS-UDT and solved all to my satisfaction but SA CAA inspection still to come. 1/ seat-- I fitted a black polyprop seat shell (ex village hall) secured to orig.seat with 4 fixings and with an oval cutout at "small of back" to position it as far aft...

ZS-UDT again hydraulic brakes etc.
Hi all you helpful folks. Am now in UK for a while but before I left SA I am pleased to say that I gave UDT some taxi trials on the dirt runway. So far so good but now is the start of serious bureaucracy. For interested parties I fitted cycle hyd. disc brakes---Haynes--calipers & lever. There are...

Weight & balance also MWTO. Used to be confused now not so sure, there seem to be conflicting numbers here. I have the original (grubby) owners manual and various other items which tell different stories. Can someone please set me right. 1 original manual June 1967 page II.8and 9 says MTOW 300 (...
