Re: Another Nipper in a scrape.
I know of another Nipper near to me that suffered damage recently following a forced landing. Fortunately the pilot was OK. I'd rather not say much more about the incident as it's not my place to do so. At least one of the syndicate members is on this forum so he might provide an update in due cour...

Re: Jabiru exhaust fumes
Oops - bit late replying. I'll be on FlyUK 19th June so no go there - I buzzed past on a low approach the other day in my Shadow but nobody home unfortunately.
Will catch you sometime though

Re: Jabiru exhaust fumes
Hi Rob, may not be applicable in your Nipper, but I had an X-Air Falcon once which was fitted with a Jab. Exactly the same problem; cured by fitting 6" exhaust extension tubes. Perhaps a similar approach might help on yours. Gonna have to drop in for a nosey soon - your literally round the corn...

Re: Removing prop driver from 1834 VW
Good news - G-AVKI had her Permit re-inspection today. All went well and thankfully he was more than satisfied with my efforts at removing the corrosion from the Prop driver so thanks to all for their advice. All things being equal (and assuming we get some decent weather soon!) KI should be airborn...

Re: Bungee replacement with alternative
Well, heartfelt thanks to Neil for developing a great bit of kit which will make everyone's life easier :D Used his excellent U/C tool today and have replaced the rubbers (did the nose too while I was about it). That means good news - KI is almost ready to be re-permitted! Am really chuffed - just a...

Re: Bungee replacement with alternative
Is anyone running with this? I'm slowly working through Permit niggles on KI but I still need to replace the rings or fit bungees...
Personally, I think fitting bungees is a far superior solution, providing of course that they offer the same level of shock absorption on landing...

Re: Removing prop driver from 1834 VW
Hi Neil,
unfortunately no inverted systems, just an entry in the original logbook stating that the original (bing) carb was replaced with the Ellison throttle Body.

Re: Removing prop driver from 1834 VW
I managed to remove the bolt today but I also spent quite a while sanding the corrosion off. Am hoping that I can convince the inspector that it's serviceable! It's come up quite well so far - will do a before and after photo. A good tip about the string Neil, thanks for that.

Re: Removing prop driver from 1834 VW
OK, here are some pics of the SAUER engine and the prop driver. You can see from the surface corrosion why my inspector wants it removed.
Not sure what exactly the allen bolt down the center is screwing into, or its purpose really.
