There should also be non return valves in the plumbing, to prevent flow from one tank to the other if flown out of balance etc!
Oh and the tanks should be empty for aeros, the outboard mass has a big effect on polar moment of inertia, and subsequent spin recovery, so I'm told...

G-CCFE
When I sold 'FE about 2 years ago, it has 2 jabiru engines, now it has none. Looks like it could be a bargain!:

Re: G-CCFE might be for sale later this year...
Price reduced even further (spare Jabiru engine thrown in for free) and finally she sold :-( Aircraft now resides at Knettishall so I shall see her around, teasing me! Thanks Nipper Group, it's been great to be part of it, just a shame I couldn't make use of 'FE more (my hourly rate was horrendous w...

Re: BUNGEE APPROVAL
Thanks Neil, and thank you for talking to the prospective buyer – sorry for not giving you any warning, but he asked if I had your details and I thought you would be happy to help him. Saying that, I have not heard from him since! Either way, I still owe you beers (or equivalent), if I am passing yo...

Re: Nipper accident
Terrible news. And for me a bit close to home. I was very close to buying G-OVAG when it was for sale, and had the sale of my Skyranger not been delayed the chances are I'd have bought 'AG rather than 'FE. Very interested to see what the NTSB report finds. Sometimes this flying lark stops being fun.

Re: BUNGEE APPROVAL
Hi Neil / All - sorry I've been 'offline' for a while. Finally got time to get 'FE serviced and Permitted (only flew her 8 hours last year :( ) Re: Bungee mod - all performing well, with the Nipper standing tall (for a nipper) in the hangar! I will return your tool soon, sorry it's been so long - wi...

Re: BUNGEE APPROVAL
Thanks Neil - don't worry, I have had email and post from Francis and he's helpfully sorted everything so that it's all now very straightforward. He sent me the paperwork that goes with the mod, and it appears that the testing was done with 1080HD as well as 1080Std, and the standard cord was a clos...

Re: BUNGEE APPROVAL
Can you believe I'm still waiting for LAA to give me permission to proceed with this mod!!? Apparently they are confused as the prototype mod was started on one aircraft and completed on another. So my Mod11 form has been ignored and the matter passed to Francis Donaldson. I'm still waiting. Can't s...

Re: BUNGEE APPROVAL
Andy Draper has given repeat mod number 13004, expected to be approved by the end of the week. Mod 11 form needs to be submitted to proceed. Seems to be some confusion over use of 1080 or 1080HD - his email suggested that the standard cord (not the HD) should be used. Can anybody confirm? Thanks, Rob

Re: BUNGEE APPROVAL
Finally - I've got round to fitting the bungees!! After suspending the rear of the aircraft from the hangar roof it was relatively straightforward using the tool, though with all that stored energy I did fear for my life winding the thing out!! All went without a hitch - a big thanks to Neil and his...

Re: G-CCFE might be for sale later this year...
Thanks Des. Not sure if they tried that trick but one person in particular needed to lose 4 inches (he was 6 ft 7)! He was from Denmark but fortunately was 'passing by' rather than making a special effort. I'll keep hoping that a buyer comes along. In the meantime I'm considering no equity shares ju...

Re: Which prop on a Jabiru?
Thanks Neil - impressive! Great article too, I didn't realise the EAA produced such good material, I think that's the winter sorted for me then!
There was even a picture of 'FE in that link, albeit in her former guise as oo-plg !
Regards,
Rob
