Great Plains Aviation Supply

Has anyone any recent experience of using Great Plains Aviation Supply in the US. I am looking to purchasing some VW engine parts (intake manifold and oil cooler mount) and have some cylinder head machining done. They have responded poorly to my recent emails and the phone seems to go to voice mail ...

Re: Instrument panel mounting

David,

Thanks for the pictures and the information on mounting the panel. Very useful. I have just checked through my box of unidentified Nipper bits and found the two mounting brackets! Helps to have a picture to make sense of things. I have an instrument shroud. Thanks again.

Instrument panel mounting

I have a original Mk2 instrument panel (the small grey plastic type) which I would like to re-fit to my Nipper during the re-build. The project came without any other parts for mounting the panel. Does anyone have information on how these panels were originally mounted? Old posts suggested using rub...

Re: Rudder circuit bungees

Hi Stuart,

I made and fitted the bungees a couple of months ago after you posted the picture on one of the other threads. Thanks again for the information

Re: Nipper Parts for sale

Hi Willem,

I would be interested in aileron push rods and their end fittings which are missing from my project. The part numbers are C568 + C574 according to the NK&C drawings. Do you have these for sale?

Re: Extra fuel tank

Hi Stuart, Thanks for the pictures and information. I have the 1/2 inch cord and hooks and will make the rudder bungees as you suggest. Thanks also for the measurements for the stall strips. I will fit these once I get nearer to final assembly. The engine came out last weekend so that I could lift t...

Re: Extra fuel tank

Hi Stuart, The engine is a 1915 cc VW conversion which was built by a Swedish company called Trimco. You are right about missing stall strips. I noticed this once I got the project home to my hangar. My guess is that the previous owner missed installing them when he recovered the wing. I plan to man...

Extra fuel tank

I am considering installing an extra fuselage tank in SE-FUT and will need to submit a mod application to EAA Sweden for this. The extra tank seen in the pictures of G-ONCS looks like a practical solution to give another hour of range. Neil do you have any more details (e.g. drawings) that I could u...

Rudder circuit bungees

I am missing the bungees that go from the rudder pedals to the fuselage frame on SE-FUT. From the drawings the bungees appear to be 3/8” diameter, however no lengths are given on the drawings. I plan to make these from 3/8” aircraft bungee cord and hook fittings. Does anyone know how long these shou...

Re: Advice wanted on buying a Nipper

Well I purchased the aircraft. Tipsy Nipper Mk2, SE-FUT is now sitting in my hangar and a pile of parts is sitting in my shed at home. The aircraft has not flown since 1974. A ground up restoration was started in the 1990's, but the previous owner didn't have the time to finish it, so he sold it as ...

Re: Advice wanted on buying a Nipper

Thanks David and Stuart. I am planning to look at the aircraft on Sunday so will check the things you suggested. I will report back if I decide to buy and finish the restoration.

Advice wanted on buying a Nipper

Hi, I am a new forum member living in Sweden. I am considering purchasing a Nipper which is part way through a ground up restoration here. The aircraft is at the assembly phase after the wings and fuselage have been painted. There is a zero time VW 1834 engine for installation. I have some experienc...
