Following my trip on Saturday upto 10,000' where the Jab was still performing surprisingly strongly I'm just wondering if anyone has had a Nipper much higher?
The Jabiru has the advantage of automatic altitude compensating fuel mixture which no doubt helps + the extra power over the VW but I'm wondering how high it might go?
Anyone got any thoughts / tried it? More out of interest than anything else, was just impressed to still be getting 500 Fpm at 10'k on such a small amout of HP!

Nipper Ceiling?
Re: Nipper Ceiling?
Hello Des,
Ive had mine up to just a tad over 10000 feet over the Isle Of wight, but with no mixture adjustment possible it was running pretty rich.
The controlled airspace above me started at FL105 so I didnt try and go any higher.
The surprising thing was how long it took to come down! Being used to turboprop, close the levers and drop.
I was conscious of shock cooling so it took almost as long to com down as go up.
I must try it again sometime..
Hope all going well.

Re: Nipper Ceiling?
Cheers Paul, I actually found the same regarding getting back down again and was very cautious about shock cooling.
Something new to try on a nice clear day I suppose!, might have a crack at 12k next but not keen on much higher without Oxy.
Was thinking of heading up your way for a day out sometime soon if you fancy a day out?, will see if I can get John and Larry to join me also. Have got 10 days leave to take before the end of the year so will give you a shout when I've got some dates in mind.
