Good Morning, tapping into the font of all knowledge again
My engine is a Rollason Ardem, originally 1500 but now 1834, ignition is twin Leburg. The data I have is rather old and calls out Champion L T or Lodge H N plugs. these are old designations and when I look up the current alternatives they appear to be Champion L82C or Bosch W7AC. However all the VW specialist sites I've visited list the Bosch W8AC as the standard plug for the Type 1 engine, the difference being one step in heat rating.
What is the recommended plug? (not necessarily Bosch).

Re: spark plugs
Hi Jim,
Try these people, they are very good:

For Leburg make sure you set the gaps at 0.9 to 1.0mm.
Make sure you don't allow the ignition to fire without a plug in the lead, and the plug being earthed. Otherwise you can damage the Leburg controller.
Best wishes,
Neil

Re: spark plugs
I am not sure I answered your question Jim.
The W7AC is a "colder" plug, ie it is designed to work under harder conditions than the W8AC......I would run the W8AC in a normal 1600, and the W7AC in a 1834/2180cc, but it also depends on your compression ratio and how hard you run the engine, also carburation etc.
Personally I would run NGKs, they have a wider heat range.
W8AC≈B5HS
W7AC≈B6HS

Neil
