Hi,
Does anyone know where it is possible to get another batch of u/c rubbers made, or if there is any stock to be purchased available, mine are showing signs of degradation, and I don't want to get stuck when they get really soft. Another Nipper owner is also in need.
Thanks,
Neil

Well that saved me asking too! A detailed walk round on mine revealed a small split, that will only get bigger of course.
Lets see if we can get a solution to this issue once and for all and find a rubber manufacturer who can meet or exceed the orginal spec.
I gather the more recently made ones aren't so good?
Count me in for any orders.
Remember, just like the canopy and nose wheel remakes that we have discussed in the past, bulk buying saves us all.

In that case we are into a minimum order of 3 sets, my nose gear ones are fine, but the mains will need doing in the not-too-distant future.

You can count me in also.
Whilst I replaced all mine last year a spare set would be useful.
I have a spare set of nose rubbers to lease if someone is stuck.

Hi all,
I can probably find some used but servicable rubbers that will tied you over in the short term.
I got my new rubbers through N K & components just by ringing Alan. Might be worth a tinkle ???
DEEP JOY !!!
Got my permit on Friday, Just in time for the shite weather over the w/e !!!
Have started the restoration of Nip no 2 with avengence.
All the best
Pat.

Hi Guys,
I have just spoken to Alan Ayles at NK&C, he is about to order a batch of 10 bungee sets, hopefully they should be available in about a month.

Hi,
Whatever happened to the modification for using bungees in place of rubbers. The mod, once carried out alleviates the need for u/c rubbers to be sourced and manufactured in future. I believe the mod simply requires the rubber support to be extended 30(?)mm either side of the existing one. Who has the drawing (or description) and is this an approved mod? My new u/c rubbers have not lasted despite raising the tail everytime after parking and at £100 each time they are replaced I think it may be time to consider an easier/cheaper alternative.

Hi all,
Last year, I told to David that with that picture:
Little news about the bungees. Yesterday i went to a car shop to look at the bungees for trailer. I found one set composed of 6s ring of 50 mm width.
I have in stock one of the last set sold by R.Cuypers. So I compared the two set. External dimension is exactly the same. The first ring (the smallest) is useless.
The width on R.Cuypers set are : noseleg bungees: 14 mm; main landing gear: 30 mm; so, the total is 44mm. So it is only 6mm of difference.
There is about 2 or 3 years, I bought a set of bungees fitted in a ultralight aircraft, and I decided to see how we can cut the rings. With a special saw machine at the museum, I cut the rings, (at a normal temperature). The result was good, but not "pretty". So, this morning; I put this set at the freezer and I try to clean it with a sandpapering machine. The result is better. I didn't clean all the bungees for you to look at the difference.
All this to say that with the set I found (2 sets for one aircraft, = 2x 25€), I can be able to make standard Nipper bungees if required.
So it is a way...
Regards,
Antoine

I got fed up with replacing bungees and had a sleeve produced to protect the main UC set- this seems to have extended their life significantly presumably by keeping them dry and in the dark.
