OIL FILTER

I OWN G -ENIE AND WANT TO FIT AN EXTERNAL OIL FILTER - VW 1834. HAS ANYONE DONE THIS ? WOULD APPRECIATE ADVICE/GENERAL COMMENTS FROM ANYONE, PLEASE. BOB CHATTERTON

Yes it has been done. Barry Smith did it on 'YB many years ago. Spin on filter that could be linked through an oil cooler. Acro used to sell a kit of parts.

I have fitted an external filter to G-AZBA, all the kit came from Think Automotive: 02085681172 or check them out on the web: .http://www.thinkauto.com/
I also installed a thermostat for the oil cooler which is sandwiched between the oil filter and housing.
Attached is a pic', if you still want to go ahead I can look out the part no's.

I may be using a different oil filter assembly on my Nipper, if you are interested in my remote filter and bits please let me know.

Rather red faced........don't think I came back to you for the part numbers!
If you are still interested, I may be doing away with my oil filter setup due to weight, so I may have a complete kit for you less the oil pickup block on the top of the engine. (I would think you have one anyway for the cooler)
