Jabiru engine failures

Postby Neil Spooner » Wed Jun 16, 2010 8:31 am

Hi All,

I recieve the AAIB buletins as you may do also, there have been a number of Jabiru engine failures due to exhaust valve head breaking off. Essentially this is due to overheating of the valve, in the main it has occured after embodiment of the economy jet kit in the carb'. Here is a link to the AAIB buletin if you dont have it: http://www.aaib.gov.uk/cms_resources.cf ... 005-10.pdf

It makes for pretty chilling reading.

Thanks for the heads up Neil, quite alarming to see these sort of failures after such a short time. Fortunately my JAB doesnt have this kit fitted and after reading that I certainly wont be considering it!
