Re: Brake discs

Hi RiP,

I am located just north of Colchester, Essex. The a/c is based at a strip about a mile from my house. Send me your email address and I will send you a Google Earth placemark.

One of the latest pictures herewith. It is a GPAS (Great Plains Aircraft Supply) engines that I imported about 2 yrs ago as a "kit of parts". I have assembled it myself ( I am a licenced LAA Engineer ) and installed it. Ground runs have been good so far, but I have yet to fit the Dzus fasteners to the cowlings so I can cowl it and run it a full power to set up the Ellison. Everything firewall forward is new except the exhaust system, and every bit of it bespoke and home made........lots and lots of work! So far very pleased, flight testing will tell if the extra 15% hp (up from 65 to 75hp) has been worth all the effort. The oil system is my own design, but yet to be tested inverted. The Acro system, although very good always lost oil pressure during slow/hesitation rolls, I hope this will prevent that, but also give better oil cooling and enhanced manifold ice protection.

Would love to see you in your Nipper, you need a brief before attempting to land here, I also need permission from the strip operator.

All the best,

Neil

I am only in Bedford , I can come up by Motorcycle or car some time , I would love to look at your installation . I am a licensed engineer , but not since 30 years ago , and then airline stuff .

Do you consider renting out your suspension rubber fitting gadget , after a hefty deposit is paid ? RiP

Has anybody looked at using wheels/discs from other aircraft? I've heard that Jabiru wheels/discs can be used, and I've seen other microlight arrangements that can probably be made to fit?? Would make sense if we could use off the shelf items. Are there already such minor mods cleared with LAA?
