Best Hangar Type

Postby RobW » Tue May 24, 2011 10:08 pm

I keep my Nipper in a tin 'T' hangar but I've noticed that at this time of year the temperature varies from 5 deg C overnight to about 35-40 deg C in the day. Is this bad for the Nipper?

Also in winter I've noticed condensation on the hangar roof (my last aircraft started to grow mildew on its Dacron). I'm hoping that the Ceconite / Wood wing isn't going to suffer, but is there anything I can do and what should I look for?

Is it best to leave the aircraft uncovered or under dust sheets? Should I move to a bigger hangar? Am I paranoid??

Thanks,

Rob

Hi Rob,

...........not ideal. The humidity change will affect all wood/fabric, and even encourage corrosion. Better ventilation is most likely the key. Can you put windows in with steel mesh to prevent birds etc?
