How do we do then? Are we all booked in for arrival at 10:00 local on Sunday?
No particular notice to give to Sywell?
I'm still waiting to do my test flight... The mechanics decided to rewire the all panel on the last minute and I still hope that I will be able to do my test flight on Saturday and join you all on Sunday.
Cross fingers.

Hi All,

I am speaking to Sackville farm which is 11 nm to the East of Sywell, it looks like they may be ok with us dropping in to meet before heading off to Sywell. I will get confirmation later today about 2000.

I propose a gathering for 1030 subject to it being ok, I will email tonight to confirm.

I have just spoken with Jeff at Sywell, NO NEED TO PREBOOK, I have given him your aircraft reg' and name, but don't have home field info, so you will need to give that on check in. He has reduced the landing fee to £5 for us Nippers.

When arriving at Sywell a standard overhead join (in formation!)

I am off to work now, wont be back on the mobile till 1830, 07971966286, or home till 1930: 01206230090

Neil

ps; good luck Frederick

Hello Guys,
Just an update on my plans, all subject to weather of course...
I will leave Inverness tomorrow very early, probably around 0700 local.
First stop Glenrothes for fuel (got a free landing fee voucher too!),
then set off for the North East of England.
Plan was to pop in and see Barry at Yearby, but he has possible waterlogging issues, so have got Teesside International
in my back pocket! Yes they will accept me, but with mandatory handling though! Had a chat with the handling agent and for humour value they will be charging me a fiver!
Next stop Sandtoft again for a top up (another free voucher!)
Then finally Sywell probably mid to late afternoon.
I have spoken to Sywell and they have agreed to hangar me for the night which is great.
All being well I will be there to see you arrive overhead.
Lets hope for good weather and well behaved Nippers.
See you there,

Paul.

Weather forecast looks pretty good! Good luck, your prise for coming from the longest distance will be an invitation to log in some more Nippers on your book... You'll be welcome to try my Jabiru converted G-TIPS.

Sackville Farm would be a great RV- for those that haven't flown in before the runway is undulating at the 13 end-I'd plan to land 1/3rd in if its this runway. Hope we can all meet up there

Hi All,

I haven't heard back from Sackville farm, but having spoken to the farmers wife she doesn't see a group of us arriving there as a problem. I have had a look at their website and it doesn't say PPR. However it looks like a very busy field with microlight, gliding, powered and ballooning going on, so watch out!! Here is there website: http://www.sackvilleflyingclub.co.uk/index.html

I have spoken with Jeff at Sywell, he has booked us all in, although it is at 1000 onwards that doesn't matter, just join overhead and work in with the radio/traffic. The landing fee has been reduced for us to £5.

I am unfortunately working today from 1100-2300, so will be unavailable, but contactable up until then or on the 24th. However, if you want to leave a message on my mobile or at home please feel free: 01206 230090/07971966286.

I propose a pre-meet at Sackville farm at 1030, and then head off to Sywell at 1100. Hope that meets with everyone's approval, sorry I haven't called you individually but I am really short on time, and 10 calls takes up allot of that!

Look forward to seeing you there.

Fly safe,

Neil

Hi Guys & Gal(!)

Thanks very much for making the effort today, I think that we all had a good time, and enjoyed a great airshow. I have only one regret, I didn't have more time to spend talking! It all went so quick. I have some great photos, and a really nice video of Mike and Robin in the Emarude in formation.....I will clip it and post it on youtube if you like.

For anyone reading this who decided to stay at home due to the weather, you made a good decision. The last thing I would want on my mind is encouraging anyone to fly, chance their luck and pay for it. The weather I flew through was decidedly marginal, and nearly decided to do a precautionary landing a couple of times, but as soon as I got past Wellingbrough the curtain lifted.

Thanks again, and here's to the next gathering!

Neil,
I'd like to see the formation clips- and hear how you arranged the video, I've experimented in G-BYLO with one of those FLIP cameras but get dreadful prop flicker. The Photos of us in formation are disappointing due to the poor transparency in the emaraude- its a shame because with the right camera ship they'd have been superb- maybe something else to arrange in the future.

Hi Mike,

I have clipped the video to remove the not-so-interesting bits and posted it on youtube. If you would like a copy please let me have your email address and I will send it to you.

The camera I was using is just a Nikon Coolpix L11 digital camera on movie mode clipped to the instrument binaccle. The quality could be better, but for self critiquing (if thats how you spell it!) it is fine. That was the first time I have used it like that, and unfortunately the instrument panel cover is in the way. A simple adjustment will cure that. The program I use is Windows movie maker. I can add music and effects, but have left this one alone.(I posted a video on youtube when I was using a mini video camera, but I don't think the quality is any better, and the prop' flicker is very annoying) That video you can find under "g-oncs".

I fly closer than that with Richard in the Luscombe, but I haven't done any formation work for a while, and as I was rusty and I hadn't flown with you before, that was the closest I felt comfortable. Flying abeam is a nightmare, as with the dihedral of the Nipper I lost sight of you a couple of times........I don't like that!

Shame the photos didn't come out, I would be very pleased to have the opportunity to do it again, and maybe work up some kind of routine. I need to get a DA.

A good day out thanks.

Neil
